Aberdeen Airport (ABZ) is the main airport for the Scottish city of Aberdeen. Because this city is far north it often snows in winter and so we offer car hire in Aberdeen Airport customers snow tyres and snow chains with their vehicle. The airport is actually located in Dyce just 10 kilometres outside of Aberdeen.

More than two and a half million passengers use Aberdeen Airport on an annual basis and that makes it the second busiest Scottish airport after Edinburgh. Eastern Airways is based at Aberdeen Airport and they offer a number of destinations throughout the United Kingdom.

Aberdeen Airport Mini Guide

The Airport
Since opening in 1934, Aberdeen Airport now offers flights to over 30 UK and overseas destinations, served by some 20 airlines.  The airport now attracts in excess of 3 million travellers every year.  This figure is expected to rise to 4 million by 2015, due to an on-going investment and development plan, including a runway extension.

Where can I Travel To/From?

Popular destinations range from holiday hotspots including Tenerife and Ibiza, or capital cities, from Paris to Copenhagen.  For something different, you can also fly to Baku, the largest city and capital of Azerbaijan or the unspoiled Faroe Islands.

What Facilities Might I Find Useful?
If you are short on time, commission-free currency can be ordered beforehand, for collection at the airport and there are 5 ATMs available.  Interactive internet stations are in Costa, along with printing facilities and Wi-Fi access is available throughout the airport.  If you are travelling for business and need a rest or just a place to catch up with work, the Servisair Executive Lounge is just the ticket.

If you are travelling with small children, there are baby changing facilities available throughout and most bars and restaurants providing highchairs and menus for children, this will all help your journey be as stress free as possible.

I Need Special Assistance
For passengers with reduced mobility, assistance can be provided from the time they arrive at the airport.  With contact details available on the airport website, all arrangements can be made prior to travel.

If I am Hungry or Need a Rest, Where can I go?
Once at the airport, if in need of food, drink or a sit down, you will not be disappointed.  Have a coffee in Costa, a tipple in Wetherspoons, or try The Granite City bar which boasts a traditional Scottish menu which can be enjoyed in a beautiful beer garden.  For sports fans, all the live action can also be watched there.  There are many hotels available in and around the airport if you have the need for one.

I Will Have Some Time on my Hands at the Airport, What can I do?
If you need last minute items, there are shops available including Tie Rack, Dixons, WH Smith and Boots.  The “Art at Aberdeen Airport” exhibition is a must see and items can be viewed and purchased at the airport or online, prior to your trip.

What are the Choices for Transport Links Between the City and the Airport?

Situated in Dyce, the Airport is seven miles north-west of the City and can be reached by the A96 Aberdeen-Inverness Road, just follow the signposts.  If travelling by car, there is secure car parking available.  The nearest train station is 2 miles from the airport and an airport bus can connect you to there, it’s then 10 minutes to Aberdeen city centre.  There is also a bus service from the airport and in light traffic the journey would take around 30 minutes. Taxis are also available at the front of the terminal.

Car Hire Aberdeen Airport Customer Comments:

Visiting family in Scotland from the USA so after a long flight, waiting for 30 minutes at the rental desk to get our car was not acceptable. If there was an option to upgrade to priority customer it would be worth every dollar. Car was fine, price was good, wait was too long.
