Belfast Airport Mini Guide

Which Should I use, City or International?
It depends on where you’re flying from or to but both airports have international flights. City has more UK destinations and just a few holiday destinations whilst the International has many more international scheduled flights.

Who Flies There?
There’s a big difference between summer and winter at the airport with many flights being seasonal only. easyJet are the biggest year round operator by far and  have a wide range of flights from the UK and Europe. The passenger breakdown is a mix of family, business and tourism and the choice of airport often comes down to cost and convenience with many routes duplicated between the two airports.

What is the Airport Like?
It’s a single terminal airport with just one airbridge, used for easyJet’s ‘Speedy Boarding’. The airport has undergone many millions of pounds on renovation work and is now sparkling, light and packed with facilities. There are four shopping outlets including Superdrug and WH Smith whilst the hungry can choose from a range of eateries from the simple Starbucks to Burger King to the more upmarket Strangford Grill. ICE Currency Exchange has two facilities at the airport so you won’t be stuck for cash and the car hire desks are also easily located.

Latest Update from Belfast Airport:

12/06/17 – Belfast International airport is encouraging more people to depart from the airport as opposed to travelling South to Dublin. The campaign has the timely name of ‘BEXIT’.

09/05/12 - When continued growth after 2009 failed to materialise, Belfast Airport put improvement plans on hold. Promising numbers in 2011 made the plans more urgent and several projects are currently in progress including resurfacing and extending the runway for larger aircraft as well as improvements to the international area of the terminal with the possibility of adding further international routes to the airport's schedule.
