About ten thousand people live in Hamrun located right in the middle of Malta. Although Hamrun is inland it is actually located on the inner harbour which cuts deep into the island.
This dock town has a bit of a rough reputation but don't let that put you off hiring a car there, it is only because of the local football fans who like to cause trouble at games. Really Hamrun is quite a cultured place and it has been the birthplace of many poets and artists over the years including the lyrical singer Oreste Kirkop.
With a hire car in Hamrun there are many beautiful sights to drive around and see including the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. Hamrun has many churches and these churches are very much at the spiritual centre of Hamrun society. Events are held there such as the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Indeed there is very much a small town feel to Hamrun and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the homely nature of the townspeople.
