Fly Balaton Airport is also known as the Sarmellek International Airport (airport code SOB) because it is close to the village of Sarmellek. This is a popular airport for tourists on their summer holidays as it is located right next to the impressive Lake Balaton in Hungary.
They go there for the healing and relaxing properties of the waters and many spas have sprung up around this area. These include the spas at Zalakaros and Heviz. However recently Fly Balaton Airport has been in a state of flux due to financial problems. Today most of its flights serve German destinations.
