Naxos is a very popular tourist destination on two counts. It has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean and it also has a number of well-preserved archaeological ruins for those more interested in history. The best beaches are found near Hora and ones of note are Agia Anna, Prokopias and Alikos.
Naxos town is definitely worth an afternoon spent exploring and you can look out over the town from the Venetian Crispi Tower. Outside of town one of the best sites is the Temple of Demeter, in excellent condition for its age.

The Demeter temple is one sight which many tourists want to see. Over the years Naxos was ruled by the Ottomans. Venetian Dukes and the Greeks and Byzantines.
