Strasbourg is located in the north east of France near to the border with Germany. Strasbourg is home to the European Parliament as well as various bodies such as the European Court of Human Rights. It has long been an important center of manufacturing for France due to its position in the Alsace Region.
There are many reasons to visit Strasbourg for pleasure as it has a UNESCO World Heritage Site city centre on the Grand Island. Culturally Strasbourg is also intriguing as it has a fusion of French and German culture and also has the biggest university in France.

One of the first things you will see as you drive into Strasbourg is the Cathedral Notre Dame de Strasbourg.

It is a very impressive, almost intimidating 13th century cathedral set in the style of the Gothic era. It is the city's most famous landmark and you should set aside some time to visit. It is said to be the finest example in the whole of Europe, which is quite something when you think about how many there are.
The city has a range of stunning parks and gardens of which the Parc de l'Ongerie is an amazing example. It has been noted for the fine French garden with displays of beautiful shrubberies.
There is also a neo-classical castle within the grounds and a small zoo, an ideal day out for the entire family.
For a proper feel of old Strasbourg you can take a short drive in your Strasbourg hire car to La Petite France.
It is a typical French neighbourhood which has cobbled streets and is lined with fine dining restaurants offering French cuisine.
There are also a number of shops which are perfect for picking up a bargain to remind you of your time there. It also has a river which runs straight through and has some of the most amazing sights so make sure you take your camera. The nightlifet here is positively buzzing, with so many bars and clubs on offer you really are spoilt for choice.
