Charles de Gaulle Airport Mini Guide
Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport is located about 25 kilometres north west of France’s capital city.
Every year more than eight million people choose to fly into this major international city.
Many of them rent cars so that they can get to other locations in France while enjoying the sights of the countryside along the way. There are five major car hire companies at Charles de Gaulle Airport including Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt.
If you are actually driving to the airport having been in France already and are perhaps dropping off your rental car, the following directions will take you to the terminal.
From Paris, take the A1 via Porte de la Chapelle. Alternatively, take the A3 via Porte de Bagnolet, join the A1 and follow signposts for the airport.
Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport is constantly updating itself to meet the high demand which it faces from passengers. A new departure hall, the Galerie Parisienne, opened in June 2007 and it is the largest departure hall in the country with more than 20 gates. Terminal 2G, a Schengen terminal with no customs control, opened in September 2008. Another new terminal, S3, is now fully operational.
Each terminal has its own covered car park with direct access to the terminal by lift. The long-term car park PR is for terminal one, and car park PX is for terminals two and three. You can get to the terminals from any of these car parks via a free airport shuttle bus.
Business travelers who may have to spend time in transit will be happy to know that there are work zones in terminals one and two where travelers can work and recharge their electronic equipment.
The airport also prides itself of providing state of the art facilities for disabled travelers, though they would be well advised to phone their airline in advance and let them know of any special needs.
Information desks offer a special welcome service for disabled passengers and reserved car parking spaces in designated areas and a discount on parking is available on presentation of a valid disability badge.
