Vaasa Airport (VAA) has more than 320,000 annual passengers making it one of the busiest airports in Finland. With a car you can make the short journey northwest towards Vaasa city centre.
As well as having flights to Europe and Scandinavia with local airlines like Blue1, it is also possible to get charter services to places like Thailand and the Canary Islands. If you are arriving in Vaasa then you can choose to tour both the new town and the old town. The new town was built in 1862 and was originally named after the Russian tsar Nicholas I.

Located in Finland only 5.6 miles from the city of Vassa is Vassa Airport. Just over 300,000 international and domestic passengers travelled through the airport in 2008, contributing to the airports status as being the fifth largest in Finland.
Frequent airlines that serve the airport include Atlasjet, Primera Air, Finnair and Air Express. The airport also handles cargo via Finnair Cargo and Blue1 Cargo. Those utilising a hire car will find a large multi storey car park outside the main terminal where hourly rates start form only 1 euro and daily rates start from 6 euros. The airport prefers customers to utilise the parking gate system where payment can be made via credit cards but there is also a cash payment machine with the terminal lobby.
There is one terminal at the airport however it's large and full of amenities. If in need of something to eat a wide range of food is available at Lentoaseman Ravintola Oy. Disabled facilities are very good at the airport such as parking and toilets, with others available from customer services. If travelling with children the airport has its very own child care facility and many baby changing areas throughout the airport.
For those interested in flying there are facilities at the airport including Vaasan Lentokerho who provide glider tuition. A parachute club is also available there named Vaasan Laskuvarjokerho in which guests can learn how to parachute.
