Jyvaskyla is a very popular destination in Finland. There’s so much to do there both in summer and winter. The lakes nearby have a number of excellent bathing beaches and the water soon heats up in the summer. Plenty of water sports are also on offer there.

How can to the Airport?
The airport only serves one scheduled destination – the capital, Helsinki. Connecting flights to the UK and other major European cities are easily found so the journey isn’t impossible whilst there are a number of international chartered holiday flights. A minibus service collects passengers from the airport dropping them at various destinations around the city which is under thirty minutes away.
What is the Airport Like?
With only one main operator, you can imagine that it is quite small. There’s an information desk that can deal with general enquiries but also advises on accommodation and onward travel. There are taxis at the airport to get you into Rovaniemi and also offices of the major car hire companies can be found in the arrivals area. From the airport to the city is well signposted along easy roads. There is help available for passengers with reduced mobility or sight and hearing problems.
Return Journey
Parking is cheap and easy if you are being dropped off. Parents finding their children a handful can make use of the child care facility at the airport whilst sorting out checking in. Once checked in there’s a single café/restaurant called Kerhon Tupa which serves hot and cold meals, light snacks, hot, cold and alcoholic drinks. Shopping is virtually non-existent here with no duty free as the airport serves mainly domestic flights only. The small kiosk sells papers, magazines, sweets and cold drinks.
