Car Hire Locations in Cyprus

Sun kissed Cyprus has been attracting visitors for many years and what starts as a holiday often ends up as a life long love affair with the island. This small country in the Mediterranean Sea is appealing for many different reasons. It has a long history of romance, having been where the Greek goddess Aphrodite was born according to mythology. Her temple is in Cyprus, as is the rock alongside which she is said to have risen out of the sea. And so coming to Cyprus you can see a wealth of archaeological sites and also feel the ambience of this laid back and loving island.

Cyprus has a high quality of life and that is why many of the people who come to Cyprus to for a vacation end up staying. And why not, with 340 days of sunshine every year, low costs, minimal tax rates and low crime? Cyprus also has good education and health systems and is a European Union member making relocation easy. Add to that mix the bargain prices for property on the island and it is no wonder that more and more Europeans are deciding to live in Cyprus.

The majority of these visitors fly through the island’s two major international airports. Larnaca airport is in the south and Paphos airport is to the west. Both terminals have had a lot of money invested into them in order to cater to the growing number of visitors who come to Cyprus. Paphos was recently renovated with a new terminal and Larnaca will be reopened this year (2009).

Rhino car hire has representatives at each of these airports meaning that no matter what time you fly into this wonderful island you can pick up your car immediately.

In Cyprus, having a car is essential as public transport is more or less non existent, and you will also find that walking or cycling long distances nigh on impossible in the searing heat of the summer months. Driving is on the left side of the road and petrol is inexpensive compared to UK prices.

Once you are mobile you can visit the seaside cities of Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos or venture inland to the island’s capital Nicosia. The latter is certainly worth seeing as it is the last divided city in Europe following a 1974 invasion of Cyprus by Turkey. But those violent days have long since passed and there are a number of border crossings from which you can make an adventurous journey to the north of Cyprus. Though this area is not recognised internationally as a country, it has some of the most beautiful sights on the island like the harbour town of Kyrenia and the Karpaz Peninsula, a wilderness where wild donkeys live.

On the southern side be sure to take a trip into the breathtaking Troodos Mountains which rise up to 2,000 metres. Rhino car hire can rent you a four by four vehicle for the trek, and with our Rhinotastic deals you can rest assured your transport and comfort will always be taken care of.
