Paphos Airport
The recent boom in the Cyprus tourism industry has been due to the high standard of living possible on this sunny Mediterranean island.
As well as being attracted to the year round warm weather, more and more people are coming to Cyprus because of the affordable house prices in the country, the low rate of taxation, the excellent schooling and medical facilities available and the low rate of crime.
Cyprus officials have sought to build on this boom and the first places to get their attention were the island’s two principal airports which are being, or already have been, renovated.
Most of the expatriates who come to Cyprus live in Paphos (there are 85,000 Brits there alone) and so Paphos airport was the first of Cyprus’ two international airports to get enlarged and remodelled. There are plenty of opportunities for

Once you have picked up your vehicle it is only a 10 minute drive into the beautiful seaside town of Paphos which has an infrastructure totally geared to visitors with many restaurants, bars, cafes and nightclubs to keep holiday makers entertained. In Paphos there are luxurious seafront hotels as well as a whole host of self catering accommodation available including modern apartments and flats which have pool access.
Must see areas in Paphos include Aphrodite’s Rock (where the Greek goddess is said to have been born and risen from the waves), the ancient archaeological Tombs of the Kings site, and Aphrodite’s Baths which are situated near to the amazing and diverse Akamas Peninsula wilderness area.
Paphos airport was rebuilt by the same companies which are now working on improving Larnaca airport. A French consortium which includes Hermes is rebuilding a new terminal and has already bolstered the road structure around the airport.
Larnaca Airport
The 650 million Euro project is set to increase the amount of passengers who use Larnaca airport from five and a half million to seven and a half million annually.
Larnaca airport was originally (and hastily) built in 1974 after Cyprus’ main airport in the capital Nicosia was seized during the conflict which divided the island. Rhino

Larnaca is currently the island’s busiest airport and has flights with many airlines including Aeroflot, British Airways, Easyjet, Thomas Cook Airlines and SkyEurope.
From Larnaca airport it is possible to drive to Nicosia within 45 minutes, or alternatively go east to the hugely popular beach resort of Ayia Napa.
