The airport is found on the island of Krk and as there’s not much to tempt the tourist in the city, we’d recommend hiring a car there and using it to see the unspoilt natural beauty of the island known through history as the ‘Golden Island’ because of the grain grown there.
The island is a fabulous habitat for many species of animals and birds and marked trails are laid out across different habitats to help you get to see the local inhabitants. Try a picnic there too with local cheese, prsut, a type of prosciutto and wine.
