Bosnia and Herzegovina Mini Guide
Bosnia and Herzegovina is a mountainous country in the former Yugoslavia which is bordered by Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro.

The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, is located in the centre of the country. Sarajevo International Airport is the main terminal to fly into Bosnia and Herzegovina you will be glad to pick up your Rhino car rental here. Taxis are expensive but having a car is definitely the best way to get around this country.
Driving is a mixed experience in Bosnia and Herzegovina as you will see some wonderful mountain scenery but have to put up with poor roads and terrible driving from the locals. Quite a few roads remain damaged from the conflicts which took place more than a decade ago. Also petrol stations are few and far between so fill up when you get the chance.

You can fly into Bosnia and Herzegovina on the national carrier BH Airlines which has links with quite a few other European cities such as Istanbul and Cologne. Croatia Airlines also has regular flights from the capital Zagreb to Sarajevo airport. Other airlines to serve Sarajevo airport are Austrian Airways which has flights to and from Vienna, and Lufthansa which goes to Munich.
If you are coming to Bosnia and Herzegovina from the European Union, the United States, Australia, New Zealand or Canada a visa is not needed.

If you want to have a beach holiday a harbour called Orasje can be found on the tiny part of Bosnia and Herzegovina which has a coastline with the Adriatic Sea. The nearby seaside town of Neum has a few good hotels to stay in.
The crime rate is low in Bosnia and Herzegovina but beware that there are still active mines in parts of the countryside so this may be one holiday where going ‘off the beaten track’ is not a good idea.
